Evelio Garcia, 96, of Tampa. Passed away March 29, 2024.
Evelio was the youngest of seven children born in Havana, Cuba in 1928 to the late Primitivo Garcia and Ana Taulet. He had a great childhood and early adulthood in Cuba, playing baseball, boxing and working as a Jockey in the horse racing industry, he left Cuba in 1959, and relocated to Florida.
He continued as a Jockey in Florida and eventually became a Trainer. Evelio traveled throughout the eastern United States and Midwest from his home base of Tampa, while raising his daughter Brandi, with his ex-wife (the late Emma Johnson).
As the years passed, he met his longtime companion Louise Parker, and they continued their journey together until her passing in 2019.
Evelio had a lust for life and enjoyed time with his family, horses, and friends.
Evelio is survived by his loving daughter Brandi Garcia Blanchard and grandchildren Emma & Devon. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the service at 12:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home. Interment at Midway Cemetery in Palm Harbor.
